Environmental policy
Amiens – Henry Potez International Airport
Context and commitment
Amiens – Henry Potez International Airport, situated in the heart of the Hauts-de-France, plays a crucial role in the economic development and connectivity of our region. Nevertheless, we are fully aware of the environmental challenges. Air transport does contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts that we cannot ignore.
Faced with the urgency of climate change and the growing expectations of our stakeholders, we have decided to place sustainable development at the heart of our strategy. Our ambition is to become a model eco-responsible airport, reconciling economic growth with respect for the environment.

Our approach
Our approach is both global and systemic. We began by carrying out a full environmental audit of our activities, identifying our main impacts and opportunities for improvement.
On this basis, we drew up an ambitious action plan, structured around a number of priorities:
1. Reducing our carbon footprint
2. Optimizing our energy consumption
3. Responsible management of resources (water, waste)
4. Preserving local biodiversity
5. Stakeholder engagement and awareness.
In each of these areas, we have quantified targets and a precise timetable, with regular milestones to assess our progress and adjust our actions if necessary.
Our vision
Short-term vision (up to 2028):
In the short term, our priority is to lay the foundations for our ecological transformation:
- Level 3 (Optimisation) awarded by Airport Carbon Accreditation
- A 20% reduction in our CO2 emissions since 2022
- Implementation of an environmental management system
- Train all our staff in environmental issues
- A programme to raise awareness among our service providers and partners and, beyond that, airlines and passengers.
Medium-term vision (up to 2030)
By 2030, we aim to be recognized as a leader in sustainability among Europe’s regional airports:
- A 50% reduction in our CO2 emissions compared to 2023
- Energy self-sufficiency through renewable energies
- Zero waste going to landfill
- A 100% responsible purchasing policy
- Environmental criteria Integrated into all our contracts with airlines and service providers.

ACA 2, year 2
Fewer than half of France’s airports have chosen to gradually reduce their carbon footprint. This ethical decision involves all our teams on a daily basis, and gives added meaning to everyone’s job. For the second year running, the ACA 2 label has been awarded to Amiens – Henry Potez International Airport. Airport Carbon Accreditation is a global carbon management program for airports, which independently assesses and recognizes their efforts to manage and reduce CO2 emissions.
Depending on the size of the airport, a level ranging from 1 to 5 is assigned to the targeted procedure and label. Here, during the first year of certification, carbon emissions were reduced by the equivalent of 19 tons due to an action plan implemented by the airport management. For example, the lighting in several buildings was changed to LEDS, reducing electricity consumption by about 70%.
Our fleet of vehicles has been modernized and some electrified, which has significantly reduced carbon emissions from exhaust gases. As far as the environment is concerned, most of the airport is natural landscape and grassy fields, a green lung that helps capture carbon from the air.

Implementation and monitoring
Amiens – Henry Potez International Airport is determined to rise to the challenge of ecological transition. We are convinced that our sector has a role to play in combatting climate change and preserving our environment.
Due to this proactive policy, we are committed not only to reducing our negative impact, but also to becoming a positive force for change in our region and beyond.
Together, we can make aviation an engine for ecological and social progress, at the service of truly sustainable development.
